The Entitlement Trap

I am so excited about this book coming out by Richard and Linda Eyre.  I went to one of their little retreats in April at their home and it was amazing to hear from them.  Because of them, my neighbor and I started a Learning Circle and are learning so much.  I can't wait to read this newest book of theirs!  Here are a few paragraphs describing National Entitlement Awareness Day.  You too can receive a FREE signed copy of this book if you post this on your blog.  Here is the info!

NYTimes bestselling authors, Richard and Linda Eyre have written an exciting new book called The Entitlement Trap and they invite you to join them in the cause to stem the tide of entitlement that is causing so many problems in today’s world.

August 22nd is National Entitlement Awareness Day. On this day, we invite you to help us spread the word about The Entitlement Trapand pre-order it yourself. You’ll get a book that may very well change the future of your family and your children - plus you’ll get a chance to win some exciting prizes.

By pre-ordering the book (following the links at the end of this page), you will:

  • Pay about $12 rather than the $18 the book retails for after its official release
  • Be one of the first to receive the book (you’ll get it September 6th, the very day booksellers get it)

If you have a blog and want to go the extra mile and receive an extra prize, please blog about the book and the giveaway on AUGUST 22nd (you can simply share THIS LINK on your blog) .  Can you imagine the power of 100′s of mom bloggers all blogging about the same important issue on the same day?  If you do a blog post on the 22nd and send the link and your mailing address to eyres@powerofmoms.com, the Eyres will send you your own special signed copy of the book.  You’ll receive the book on September 6th, the day it is released.  If you’ve pre-ordered the book, you’ll end up with two books – one of which will make a great gift!

Jenna Jenna Bo Benna

This girl is all over the place these days.  I cannot keep my eye on her every second of every moment.  She really wears me out.  Luckily she takes a good 3 hour nap every day so I can work and get things done (or try to get things done).  Her favorite thing to do is climb on top of tables....the coffee table and the kitchen table.  She drives me nuts.  And this is what she does when I push all the chairs in under the table, she still finds a way to get on top of it and then whine and cry because she is stuck.

The drawer.  I have a picture of Brylee at this age doing the exact same thing.  She loves her drawers.  Her favorite thing to do though is pull EVERYTHING out of every drawer we have, especially the drawer in our bathroom.  I now have everything that was in the drawer on top of the counter until we can get a lock on it because she will just pull it out again.  So, you can imagine how clean our bathroom must look. :)

And she loves her music.  She cracks me up.

Brylee's Biography Fair

Brylee had a biography fair at school this last month and chose to do hers on Taylor Swift.  They had the gym full of parents and students walking around looking at everyone's biography posters.  It was a lot of fun to see what all the kids chose to do their reports on.  Good job Brylee!  And thank you to my neighbor Camille for lending Brylee the guitar last minute :)

Picasso or just plain ol' crazy?

Definitely crazy!

My lovely son Karston decided almost 2 weeks ago that it would be so much fun to paint the side of my house with the spray paint I had just bought to make a wreath.  Him and his friend down the street took turns, although I'm pretty sure Karston did most of it.  In some moments I couldn't stop laughing, like when I posted it on FB and all the comments I would get ...and other times where I was just plain old mad at him.  He is grounded for a month from the X-Box and his friends.  Trust me, it is so much more torture for me than it is for him I think.  This month is dragging on!  Nate had to restucco the side of the house.  Luckily we had extra stucco they left in our garage.  At least they were pictures of suns, smiley faces and Spongebob square pants.  You can't get any cuter than that.  :)  BOYS!

So long, farewell....

Here are 2 of my great friends I have been so blessed to hang out with and know for many, many years.  Heather moved to Blanding last month....I know, SOOOOO far away.  We would get together once a month and get dessert and talk until late at night.  We even had a couple of sewing sessions making skirts, which I loved!  I am going to miss her. We went to Chili's our last get together.  Thanks girls for a fun night!

Birthday Banner

So, I get so tired of buying those cheap plastic birthday banners that get thrown away after every birthday.  My awesome friend Amy makes these and sells them.  Well, I decided I would try to make one.  I thought it was so much fun to make.  JoAnn's had a sale of their felt when I made it and making the cute little felt pictures to go on them was even funner (I know, that's not a word:).  Anyway...here is her tutorial if you would like to try it yourself.  I made it before she had her tutorial up...so I didn't double up on the felt on the flags, but I still liked out it turned out.  Thank you Amy for the great idea.  I love it!

The Living Planet Aquarium

February 19th we went to the Living Planet Aquarium with the whole Juber clan.  We had never been and the kids absolutely loved it!  Afterwards we went to the Myan to eat for lunch.  Thank you grandma and grandpa Juber for a great Saturday afternoon!
